“Librarianship is the nerve centre of information for academic, research and developmental activities of the country. Agricultural librarianship has vital role to play providing relevant and timely information sources and service to research workers, teachers, subject specialists, students, farmers, agribusiness organisations and others who are actively engaged in meeting the continuing challenge of human being for food and hunger.
The present study, pioneering in nature, intends to survey the existing agricultural libraries and their infrastructure facilities; to identify various types of information facilities catering to the needs of agricultural education, research and extension activities; to study the infrastructure, management, staff services and resources of these information centres and libraries; and information needs of various user groups concerned with the agricultural field and type of service required to meet them.” (jacket)
