The present volume embodies research work of selected researchers on the evaluation of implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) now being implemented in all the rural districts of India. The act seeks to promote inclusive growth. The primary objective of the act is augmenting wage employment. Experiences of implementation of the programme demonstrate that the results have been mixed. The contributing scholars have identified the causes of limited success of the programme in different parts of India. The researchers have made practical suggestions for better implementation of the programme. Though most of the contributors have dealt with empirical issues, some researchers have dealt with theoretical issues on the subject. It is expected that the book will be useful to the concerned researchers, academicians and the policy makers. (jacket)
