Modern Indian Economy is an edited volume contributed by friends, colleagues, students, well wishers and admirers of Professor Alak Ghosh to perpetuate his memory on various topics of interest of Prof. Ghosh. All together 48 articles are included in this volume and they are distributed over as many as 8 sections.

In the appendix there is a report on the meeting held in memory of Prof. Ghosh after his sad demise. There is also an editorial overview on the articles included in this volume and a personal note about Prof. Alak Ghosh. For the benefit of readers all articles are preceded by an abstract. This volume though published in the memory of a renowned teacher for more than four decades yet it will serve as a guide to the academicians and researchers on the economies of India and other developing countries to study their different dimensions to understand the implications, magnitude and solutions in the future.
