Mohammad Ali Khan : An Autobiographical Discourse

This is a story of an extraordinary rebel of 1857-Mohammad Ali Khan (1819-1857) told in his own words. He was a scion of some small rulling family of some place near Rampur, Rohilkhand (Uttar Pradesh). A highly educated person, he received technical education (engineering) from the best institution in the country. He had visited England twice. During the uprising, Mohammad Ali did many heroic deeds, especially in the organisation of defence works, first at Bareilly, then at Delhi, and finally at Lucknow. But for his contribution, these cities would have not taken so long to fall to the superior British fire-power. On 15 February 1858, Mohammad Ali, betrayed by his own man, fell into the hands of the British who hanged him the next day.
