From introduction: In this manuscript, consolidated information on the moths of Bihar and Jharkhand is compiled. The present programme was originally approved as Taxonomic studies on family Noctuidae from Bihar and Jharkhand. But due to lack of any consolidated date on the moths of Bihar and Jharkhand coupled with their immense economic importance, an effort has been done to collect and identify maximum number of moth species form the area under study. Besides fresh collections, the moth collections preserved (till 2013) in the National Zoological Collections of ZSI, GPRC, Patna are also included. This helped in the compilation of information on the morphotaxonomy of 201 species under 140 genera, 35 subfamilies and 18 families of moths from Bihar and Jharkhand. Five new species are described in this treatise besides many new records and combination.
