"India has been a source of rich amount of the medicinal plant wealth. The efficacy of Indian medicinal plants, particularly of those growing in temperate and alpine Himalayas is fairly well known. Many life-saving drugs are being prepared from different parts of the plants. Indian system of medicine alone has identified 1500 medicinal plants, of which 500 species are commonly used in preparation of herbal drugs.

In the present book \'Multifacial Applications of Drug Plants\', various aspects of drug plants and their uses in various diseases are discussed. Most of the contributions are on the conservation and management of medicinal plants, traditional and ethnobotanical uses of important plants in different parts of the country, particularly in Uttarakhand. Some of the aspects of intellectual property rights and medicinal plant biodiversity conservation are also discussed. An integrated approach for proper utilization of medicinal plants is also given. This is hoped the book will serve as a guide for conservation, cultivation and utilization of plant wealth in a proper way for the benefits of human beings."
