Researches in the area of music education and psychology of music are rare. The researchers somehow did not take up these important areas for reasons best known to them. It we go through the history of research in music, it is clear that most of the work has been done on old texts alone or on the study of ragas etc. This trend is still visible and researchers are focusing their attention and energy on thread baring the old texts. After music became a subject f study at various levels, the need to devise new methods and techniques of teaching can not be ignored. Various factors affecting the music performance and learning of concepts are required to be studied so that the students could be taught more effectively. And thus the present attempt by Dr. Mritunjay Sharma is a welcome one. Dr. Sharma has studied some of such important psychological factors with special emphasis n the impact of anxiety on the music performance of students. Needless to say, anxiety plays an important part in stage performance. It has been observed that most of the students perform competently in the classroom or at their places, but when it comes to perform before an audience, then anxiety plays havoc. This research work shows how anxiety affects of the music performance. From there onward, methods can be devised to reduce the impact of anxiety and help the student to perform in a better manner.
