"Nature has gifted us so many things to run our lives smoothly. One of them is natural resources and wildlife stands as a renewable natural resource among those which are exhaustible or vanishable, if not utilized properly. It is our duty to utilize and manage the same in such a way that it may be sustainable so that we may get benefits from it in perpetuity from generation to generation. Long-long ago in the beginning of our civilization, animals and human beings were living cordially and harmoniously without hampering each other leading our lives in healthy and pollution free atmosphere maintaining natural balance as per the law of nature. But unfortunately, we started to exploit wildlife recklessly and in an unscientific way for our comforts specially by shortsighted, selfish and greedy persons without thinking its consequences. On one side we are claiming our advancement, but on the other we are disturbing and destroying our natural resources bringing them to an alarming stage not only encroaching on their habitat but also by poaching on them illegally thereby depleting their population day by day. Habitat destruction and illegal hunting are the main reasons of such problems. Conversion of forest into agricultural fields, poverty, unemployment, illiteracy, unawareness towards importance of wildlife as well as wildlife management are the salient reasons behind it. Today, the situation is that man and wild animal conflict has come into picture. Day by day, this conflict is increasing and we are too busy to get rid of such problem. So many herbivorous wild animals such as elephant, wild ass, deer etc. are damaging agricultural crops creating great loss to the farms. Elephants are not only causing damage to the crops but also taking lives of the villagers. Situation is very tense and there is always conflict between man and such animals. And if the situation goes ahead in such direction, the day is not too far when top carnivorous animals like tiger, lion, panther, hyena etc. may also pose a threat to us as man-eater and cattle-lifter on a large scale. The main reason behind such introvert nature of the wild animals is the habitat destruction and its improper management making them homeless. Through this book, it has been tried to discuss all such matter in detail and convince and create consciousness among masses in respect of importance of wildlife and its conservation, man and wild animal relationship and wildlife management so that we can bring them in a stage to get revenue from them maintaining natural balance and making calm and healthy platform on the planet earth for the survival and existence of human race."
