Nursery production practices and orchard management including canopy manipulation is essential to achieve optimum productivity with production of high quality fruits. The Government of India has started a national programme to supply clean planting material to the fruit growers and provided sufficient logistic support and financial assistance with the aim to provide disease free true-to-type high quality planting material. On the other hand, the orchard management is interdependent subject where associated allied fields play an important role to produce competitive products with desired quality traits. The allied areas like incompatibility of scion and rootstock, inter-cropping in orchards, high density planting, nutrient, weed and water management, soil water conservation, drip irrigation, plant protection measures, mechanised grafting, suitable machinery for orchards, nursery accreditation and quarantine, biotechnological and tissue culture techniques, artificial intelligence, drones, horti-silviculture systems, natural fruit growing, are the major keys in nursery production, canopy and orchard management. The first volume of this book exclusively deals with these fields for the successful and economically sustainable fruit production.
