Performance Appraisal is a formal, structured system of measuring and evaluating an employee’s job related behaviour and outcome to discover the employee's present performance, the factors responsible for the performance, scope for improvement of performance and benefit for the organisation, employee and the society. This book aims to find the lacunae in the existing Performance Appraisal System followed in the Railways. Since the Railways is one of the major employers in the country, a new relevant appraisal system is inevitable for not just the employment opportunities it provides but also for the returns on the investment done.
