From the preface: Common Indian Herbs and Shrubs published in 2012 contains 580 species of herbs and shrubs with stunning photographs and brief description. That book is unique and very helpful for easy identification of plants. In the preface it was written that Common Indian Herbs and Shrubs is not a conventional text book of Botany, but a little effort to help the students of Botany as well as the plant lovers to become acquainted with out green neighbours and to draw their attention towards out value plant biodiversity. It is applicable to Common Indian Herbs and Shrubs, Volume II also.

In continuation with the previous book, the present volume of Common Indian Herbs and Shrubs is prepared and it contains 245 species of plants. In the first volume attention was given mainly to the wild herbs and shrubs. But there are many garden plants around us and most of them are unknown to the people. In this volume some of such plants are included, though many species found in garden in plains grow wild in hills and vice-versa. Moreover, some garden plants do spread beyond and are naturalized. This volume also contains some small tree species which are common and have beautiful flowers, like a few species of Rhododendron and Pleumeria, Saraca, Magnolia, Jacaranda, Butea etc.
