"This is an attempt to highlight the missionaries\' activities in India and show how they have helped common Indians when they needed them most. Some of the articles here show how they had worked among the poor, the low castes and the outcasts while the others throw light on the activities of the famous Serampore Trio. Some authors also bring out analytical sketches of those extra-ordinary figures among the missionaries. All the articles are the result of painstaking researches of the contributors who depended both on primary and scriptural references and this has made the volume a unique one." (jacket)
