"Principles of Educational and Vocational Guidance is perhaps the newest addition to the professions where chief purpose is to help people with their problems. As a new discipline dedicated to the helping process it has much in common with the already professions, but it is also distinct from them, for it makes contributions to human welfare which are not forthcoming form other areas.
Vocational guidance at its present stage of development has various responsibilities which differ from each other, not only in objectives, but in the levels of skill necessary for specific functions and in the special knowledge required for particular areas."
