"The concept of public administration as a way of social living and management of policy in India, in particular, is as old as human civilisation. These volumes on public administration are a humble effort to provide basic knowledge in concise form of the vast and extremely important subject in the present day\'s democratic world.

Public administration is a fast developing subject and there are many books available in the market but most of them have been written as per syllabi of particular universities, therefore, this set of two volumes is titled as "Public Administration" among several books published in India, claims to be most comprehensive. These volumes contains point analysis and description of the subject in Indian context. It covers the syllabi of all the Indian Universities at Degree and P. G. Level, on the subject in simple and lucid language drawing examples from Indian society.

These volumes are divided into two volumes, Volume 1 captioned as "Concept, Approaches and organisational structure" contains 17 chapters, and volume 2 titled as "Functional Structure and Administrative Reforms" contains 17 chapters, which are more useful to the students of Indian universities as well as to the general readers, scholars and teachers of the subject alongwith young administrators of this great country, which holds the concept of \'Ram Rajya\' as a model of public administration in high esteems and the preamble of our constitution gives a clear massage of the same.

Planned as a textbook for the students and reference book for the teachers, scholars and general readers, these volumes are critical and constructive appraisal of the subject." (jacket)
