Quality Enhancement of Social Work Profession in India : Issues and Challenges

This volume contains a wide range of scientific papers authored by social work educators, practitioners, research scholars and students from different parts of the country, most of which were presented at the National Workshop and Conference on the theme Quality Enhancement of Social Work Profession in India: Issues and Challenges organized by the Department of Social Work, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli with the main objective of bringing together leading Social Work Educators and Practitioners from different parts of the country in order to deliberate on various issues relating to the establishment of a National Council of Social Work Education, evolving a system of accreditation of social work institutions and their curricula, developing standards of practice and licensing procedures for the Social Work Practitioners and making necessary recommendations to the Government. The broad themes covered by the research papers include Social Work Education and Professional Development Concerns, Childhood and Adolescence, Women and Ageing, Human Resource Management and Community Development.
