"This study represents more than a two-year period of research done at the Rabindra Bhavana Library and Museum, Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan by the authors, where they studied Bengali language and literature from 1988 to 1991. It is both a compilation as well an elaborate study of all known documents, facts, personalities said to have any relation or connection with Rabindranath Tagore and Bulgaria.

This work proposes to discover the connections between Tagore and Bulgarian intellectuals from that period, and also to study the interest of the Bulgarian society towards Rabindranath\'s works, which naturally reached a climax in November 1926 when Tagore visited Bulgaria on a three-day tour. Revealing facts unknown or little known, as well as correcting errors and misunderstandings connected with Tagore and his stay in Bulgaria, and the Bulgarian presence in Santiniketan is another purpose of the study. The authors have tried to update their work as meticulously as possible."
