The word “Armed Struggle’ is used frequently in the Telangana region rather we must know it is synonymous. The great historic armed struggle was fought for half a decade (1946-1951) by the peasants of Telangana region in Hyderabad state under the leadership of Communist Party of India and Andhra Maha Sabha.

Against the dictatorial tendency of the landlords and against the ruler of the Nizam Dominions, the peasants revolted. People tolerated many atrocities of the Nizam because he being the overlord of the kingdom. He ruled the state under the sovereignty of British colonialists who occupied the entire country. Social evils were deep-rooted in Telangana region. Except the high caste people, remaining section of the society was trodden and stamped under their feet. They had an upper hand in all aspects of social, economic, political and cultural life. Middle class, poor peasants and riot coolies were deteriorated and degraded into bonded labours. They turned to the whims and fancies of their landlords. (jacket)
