From the preface: "The present publication \'Seismic Microzonation of Delhi Urban Complex\', an outcome of the studies, besides being a compilation of all the available geoscientific data pertaining to Delhi, includes the expected seismic response data in the form of maps on shear wave velocity, predominant frequency and liquefaction potential. The ground breaking efforts of the team spanning one full year to bring out this publication, are going to set tone for future studies.

The subchapter on the discussion on "Site response scenario vis-a-vis effects of past earthquakes in Delhi\' enhances the level of confidence on the site response maps the validation of which otherwise would have to wait until next seismic calamity.

It is hoped that besides being a stepping stone for future work the publication will bridge the gap between theory and practice, as it will be an effective tool for all those who are involved in the planning, development and the maintenance of existing structures, and more importantly the heritage buildings of this city with history of razing and rebuilding."
