The book entitled Social Change in Modern India is a comprehensive and critical analysis of the process of social transformation in India. The very first chapter deals with the various issues associated with the concept of social change. The study of different theories of social change has been made in the second chapter. Social movements play a decisive role in the process of social change. The study of the different social movements like the non-violent approach adopted  by Mahatma Gandhi in the form of Satyagraha in India and the civil rights movement led by Martin Luther King in the United States of America has been made in the third chapter.

The study of the relationship between socialism and religion is the part of the fifth chapter. In the wake of globalisation, there has been a phenomenal rise in the number of non-governmental organisations. It has emerged as a major instrument of social change.
