Indian society is known for multi-religious and dual cultural existence for a long time. Despite significant differences in the modes of worship and belief there are common linkages and threads that bind them. Still for various reasons threads of bondage have become too loose and misunderstanding has taken deep roots. Communal card has become the trump card of political parties well as some social groups. Appeasement of religious community  became the rule. Communal considerations replaced communal harmony and hatred replaced love.
 
It is such a vicious context that the theme of the present story social Harmony: an event is authored. This is not just a fiction. The story is based on one actual event that took place in Orissa. That event was an RSS activist and a Muslim progressive thinker were too intimate friends. Vikram Sinha and Rahman are the main characters. They demonstrated through their behaviour that there is still a ray of hope that hatred can be replaced by love and suspicion by faith. When Vikram was determined to bring up Rahmans child Nagina after the death of Rahmans  and his wife Rahmat strictly according to Islamic culture and belief. Sulaiman Rahman\'s brother played a dirty trick of promoting disharmony only to get his right over the child. But his concealed intention was to get the property of Rahman. But Vikram stood firm in keeping up his word to Rahman.

While Vikram gets the support of moulana and the police Sulaiman became a suspect and culprit in the eyes of these two persons. (jacket)
