"About more than hundred research articles in English and Bengali have been published in national and international journals. Prof. Ara was nominated as expert psychologist by the Public Service Commission in 1987 till present time. Her special area of interest is social psychology with particular emphasis on political behavior, student activism, attitudes and personality, ideology and student activism and value system in cross-cultural settings. She visited USA, Japan, Pakistan, India, Bangkok several times and acquainted herself with a cross-section of American, Japanese, Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Psychologists, sociologists, political scientists an social behavior researchers. This helped her to put some modifications and additions in the book "Sociopolitical Attitudes, Values and Personality".

The author believes that social psychology, to be worthy of human welfare, should prove itself as an interdisciplinary subject. The sociologists, the cultural anthropologists and political scientists need to co-ordinate for the macro analysis of human behavior. In fact, the present book is a humble attempt of fulfill this mission of social sciences." (jacket)
