"The book entitled Sociology of Religion is a serious attempt to understand religion in a social framework. In the introductory chapter, study of religion by Emile Durkheim and Max Weber has been made to focus the role of religion in a modern society. The history of sociology of religion has been covered in the second chapter. The evolution of religion has been studied is the second chapter.

The study of the process of secularisation constitutes the part of the fourth chapter. The author has thoroughly examined the causes and consequences of the emergence of different new religious movements in the fifth chapter.

The study of religion and democratic behaviours, morality gender, psychology and spirituality has been made in depth in the sixth, seventh and eighth chapter respective. The detailed investigation of socio-cultural and socio-religious origin of human rights has been covered in the ninth chapter of this book.

The study of the impact of globalization on religion in particular has been made thoroughly in the final chapter of this book." (jacket)
