We have entered a post world era, where traditional security studies have been challenged by much more boarder concept, which has come to be known as citizen security examining the role of non traditional threats on security of individual and communities. The need to widen the concept of security and distinguish between hard and soft security threats has been increasingly accepted but still the implementation of strategies to cope with soft security threats has been less prominent.

The book reflects on changing dimensions of security. It is argued that while the traditional security concerns persist, looming non-traditional security challenges have attended greater salience in recent years. The security agenda as this book demonstrates incorporates state security as well as humanize nation security to include political economic social, cultural and environmental dimensions and linkages between them at national regional and global levels.
