From the introduction: Nayachar Island an emerging land mass in a dynamic estuary, is formed of transported deposits. It is expected that in the course of development the predominant characteristics of the island soil were those inherited from the parent material. During subsequent development process, the soil will acquire other characteristics under the influence of prevailing climate and vegetation.

Mangroves are a group of typical topical and specialized trees growing in the saline and brackish water system. The mangrove trees are highly productive and economical which also protect the shoreline form erosion and cyclonic condition. It is only in recent years the importance of mangroves have been recognized as ecologically vital areas. This very dynamic ecosystem provides a unique opportunity for the interaction among plants, terrestrial vertebrate, invertebrate and other living acquatic resources and helps them for decomposition of organic materials exchange different chemical indices and energy contents among themselves.
