Over the last several years, despite enhanced global wealth creation, the number of people living in chronic poverty has been on increase. India is no exception to this. Despite the successive implementation of Five Year Plans, the problem of poverty has not been eliminated. Gender inequalities have resulted in the concentration of women in unorganized sectors and unequal pay for equal work.
