"Long jump is the simplest of the four jumps to perform. In order to participate athletes do not need to use expensive equipment or sophisticated techniques. The very simple equation of speed on the approach run, accuracy on and lift from the take-off board and an efficient landing has won many prizes for athletes. Athletes often spend hours perfecting a particular technique, but the most important considerations are running speed, accuracy on the take-off board and \'bouncy\' legs to give lift from the take-off board. Good jumping technique will never take the place of these desirable physical qualities.

The present book deals with all aspects of long jump viz., historical background, skills and techniques, and rules. The text are arranged in a lucid form and being written in simple colloquial English.

In this way, the present book has wide scope for the new aspirant athletes especially long jumpers who wish to develop and sharpen their long jumping skills, athletes, students and teachers of physical education and sports etc." (jacket)
