"Psychology continues to be one of the most popular courses on college campuses today. It is possibly the most popular elective course among college students and some sources say, among high school students as well. It is impossible to say just how many people teach the introductory psychology course. It is clear that a great many people are involved with introductory psychology, either as instructor or student.
Considering the number of graduate students and new instructors who are involved in teaching the introductory psychology course, it is surprising that better teaching aids are not available.
Several chapters of this book deal with beginning students' conceptions and misconceptions of psychology; others explore ways to increase students' motivation. One group of book is devoted to different approaches for individualizing instruction; others cover the use of student teaching assistants and testing." (jacket)
