From the Preface: "The purpose of this book is to provide those activities, methods , procedures which will aid prospective classroom teachers, as well as those now in service, to assume the responsibility for teaching physical education with a greater measure of success. The materials should also prove helpful to administrators and others who are responsible for administering or supervising the elementary school program. The emphasis is placed upon a way of teaching physical education rather than upon a fixed and rigid program set-up for each day and week. An effort has been made to guide teachers in formulating and conducting a program based upon the needs and interests of any particular group of children."
