"This book on The Elderly and Television Viewing is based on a Ph.D dissertation work. To gather the information and in depth understanding about the topic under study, 500 elderly citizens from Vadodara city were contacted. They opined about their television viewing behaviour, influence of television viewing on their developmental tasks, portrayal of elderly in television programmes and problems they face in utilizing television. Rich qualitative data were collected through focus group discussions from 45 elderly citizens, watching television programmes.
This book will be of a great help to the researchers working in the area of communication and gerontology. It will also help media producers to plan and produce better and relevant programmes for elderly. This book would help development communicators to understand the relationship which elderly share with television and therefore can design development messages for the society as well as elderly on issues related to ageing."
