This book approaches thermodynamics and heat transfer in a unifying and integrated way. The early chapters are concerned with the First, Second and Third Laws of Thermodynamics, thermodynamic cycles and other topics in classical thermodynamics. Then follow sections on heat transfer and, finally, a succinct introduction to statistical thermodynamics. This is useful to chemistry students but is also directed at engineering students in order that they understand how the classical approach, which they are traditionally taught, is complemented by the statistical.

In addition there are many examples throughout the text and at the end of each chapter, making it ideal for tutorial use of private study.
