The Punjab Crisis: 1857 Select Documents
Colonial Punjab of 1857 included present day Punjab, Haryana, West Punjab now in Pakistan, Himachal and Delhi. The Whole of this region was in rebellion. The present work is a selection of the Punjab Government records published in 1915. It contains the report of the events in 1857 submitted in 1858 by the commissions of the Division and District officer to Mr. Montogomery, Judicial commissioner of the Punjab and also a reprint of the Punjab Mutiny Report. The chief commissioner of the Punjab, Sir J. Lawrence on March 1858 received this report and submitted to the government of India with a narrative and comments on 25th May 1858.
The book therefore is a rare and useful source for Armed Forces and scholars working in freedom struggle and the British Colonial rule in India.
