"Many countries have developed tourism as a major source of national income. Some of the smaller countries like Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and Philippines depend largely on income from tourism.

In Europe also governments are trying to make the general atmosphere of their countries and tourist sites as tourist friendly. Many smaller countries like Switzerland, France, Italy attract a large number of tourists every year.

Nowadays senior government officials visit other countries to promote tourism in their country. Because of the fact that the western capitalist world has huge amounts of capital at their disposal, they are able to invest more money in the tourism industry for tourism development and as such they get huge dividends from tourism. While as in the developing world there is great potential of tourism but due to lack of funds, the tourism industry in these countries is still underdeveloped and these developing countries are unable to develop their infrastructure for making the country tourist friendly.
