This book makes a scientific appraisal of anthropological perspectives on the factors associated with the life, status, problems and prospects of male to female transsexuals in India, with special reference to the state of Karnataka. Taking stock of the socio-economic status and problems of male to female transsexuals in the state, it examines their health status as well as the problems associated with it.

Further it evaluates the human rights situation of male to female transsexuals in the state, it suggests appropriate methods for their rehabilitation and development. Finally it presents some case studies of persons who have overcome the system-related shortcomings.
