"The concept of food quality has changed dramatically in the recent years. It now refers not only to the characteristics of the final product, but also to the way in which it is produced, processed and transported. Consumers in developed and developing countries have now become more health conscious and they have started spending in natural food materials. This is because of the day by day, increasing use of various synthetically produced chemical fertilizers and disease control measures in agricultural practices, those are not only adversely affecting the natural resources and soil fertility but also the health of human beings. This gravity of depleting soil health and environmental hazardous has drawn the attention of scientists and policy makers to find out a way for sustainable and eco-friendly farming system in the various agro climatic conditions world wide, keeping in the view, the needs of the present and future generations.
In the view of resurgence of interest in alternate agriculture in recent years, organic farming has been considered to be a viable option in most of the countries. Organic farming is a production system that avoids or largely excludes the use of synthetically produced agricultural inputs like fertilizers, pesticides, growth regulators, live stock feed additives etc.
