There have been deliberate efforts on the part of the government since independence to bring the tribes into the mainstream of the country by making various provisions in the constitution such as providing education, employment, making special provisions for them, starting employment and income generation activities for BPL families etc.
In 2006, Schedemled Tribes and other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act has been brought into implementation. For promoting literary amongst tribal women in 54 identified low literacy districts, tribal ministry is providing 100%assistance through NGO/state societies.
The book finds detailed treatment about the tribes of India and various provisions pertaining to the welfare and development of the tribes.
