"This book is a study of urban centers of Pondicherry in various periods of history. Starting from the first historical period of South India continues with other dynastical period\'s viz ancient, medieval and modern ages. The study deals with the identification of urban centers viz., Arikamedu to Sangam age, Bahur to Pallava period, Tribhuvani with Chola times, Villiyanur with the Vijaya Nagar dynasty and ends with the French modern Pondicherry.
