The paper in this book are coverage on the theme. \'Use and misuse of land and water resources. The various papers unfold these perspectives and make valuable contributions in each area. Each of them look at different aspects of the problem and covers different areas of the country. Such a comprehensive study is essential for the management of land and water resources.
The whole book comprises of 25 paper, they are grouped in three sections:
The first section includes six papers which deal with both land and water resources. Two papers are general giving an overview of India while four papers present case studies from Andaman and Nicobar, Goa, Nainital and Gandak Region.
The second section includes nine papers which deal with use and misuse of water resources. One paper is general, given view of interlinking of rivers, while the rest are case studies from Uttaranchal, Uttar Pradesh, Deccan Region, Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan from very different perspectives.
The third section includes ten papers which deal with the use and misuse of land resources. One paper is general, giving a view of management of land resources while rest are case studies from Uttaranchal, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Goa and Andhra Pradesh from very different perspectives." (jacket)
