"The history of Vande Mataram is closely linked with the Indian freedom struggle. The large body of Indian writers of various languages naturalised the Vande Mataram in all parts of India. The Revolutionary Movement derived its inspiration from the song. For the Indian National Congress, it had been the sacred ritual to open its sessions with the singing of Vande Mataram.
