“Women Empowerment in Indian Writers in English is a humble attempt to critically analyse and elucidate the various aspects of Indian feminine sensibilities in the light of both Indian and western thoughts and aesthetics. Since the time immemorial, women have been the victim of male domination. They have been bearing the brunt of patriarchy and gender discrimination in every nook and corner of the world. This anthology of critical papers tries to evaluate the present condition of women as portrayed in various works of Indian writers in English. The articles are related to the identity crisis of women, their predicament in the contemporary society, feminist consciousness, the emancipation of women, their dilemma and doubt, the concept of new women etc.
The book, it is hoped, will be of great help to all those students, teachers and research scholars who want to be acquainted with the various aspects of feminism and women empowerment.” (jacket)
