This book is intended to be a source and guide book for policy planners, femininity specialists in the intended area, students of women’s studies and social work discipline and the common public interested on women’s issues. The chapters in this book present just an overview of the problems suffered by women in India from womb to tomb.
The discussion in the present book is not exhaustive as every concern is a level by itself. Though some of the issues are common to all women irrespective of caste and socio-economic position; by and large, the orientation is to the socially backward and economically downtrodden women. The objective of this book is to provoke discussion and debate on pertinent issues relating to women so that public opinion is moulded to appreciate the necessity for gender-just policies.
