A constitution implies a set of laws. It is often codified as a written document that enumerates and limits the powers and functions of a political entity. Most constitutions seek to regulate the relationship between institutions of the state, in a basic sense the relationship between the executive, legislature and the judiciary, but also the relationship of institutions within those branches.
The book portrays the conceptual and legal framework of parliamentary democracies like the UK, Japan, Canada, Soviet Union, Australia, China, Switzerland etc. etc. in broader perspective." (jacket)
