Young people worldwide are speaking out against child labour and taking action to raise further awareness of this issue. Numerous tools and initiatives exist to inspire and motivate children of all ages, from primary school right through to university, on the subject of child labour. An estimated 126 million children under 18 years old are doing work which poses a physical, psychosocial or moral danger to them. Of these -- about 52 million - are young people whose work could be considered legal if there was minimal risk or if they were well-trained and well-protected from the hazards.

Child labour is an issue which has always been seen as a diabolic evil in the society. It is a vexed issue, since it is seen to destroy the childhood of many innocent souls. A childhood which is meant to play, to study and enjoy the little joys of life is wrecked by the evil of child labor. As child slavery comes to the forefront of global concerns, efforts to end it are growing. Legislation is one approach, such as the United National Convention on the rights of a child, which outlines the rights of every child.
